Meet Paige, owner & creator of the BodyBarre® method.

In 2012, Paige Erwin created BODYBARRE® following her 20+ year career as a professional Broadway dancer. Following her retirement from Broadway, and studying the original barre work created by Lotte Berk, Paige searched for a barre method combining all the elements of classical dance, as well as strength training that she had grown to love. When nothing fit the bill, version 1 of the BODYBARRE® method was born.

The BODYBARRE® method started as a local instructor barre certification, with the focus of training and inspiring instructors in Southeast Texas.

Paige continued to supply a variety of studios in Texas with BODYBARRE® classes and certifications until demand grew so rapidly that a home studio was required. The Royal Academy of Fine Arts was our first home, and within one year, BODYBARRE® outgrew capacity and opened its own dedicated brick and mortar studio in 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Within its first year, the BODYBARRE® YouTube channel attracted 20,000 subscribers and earned the fastest growing barre method on social media with the #3 slot of top YouTube barre workout channels. During this time, BODYBARRE® Global was born as the demand for certifications spread across the United States and overseas to more than 20 countries. You can now find a BODYBARRE® certified instructor on every single continent  and in most major cities and countries across the world.

Paige Erwin is a native Houstonian and graduate of the American Musical Dramatic Academy (AMDA) New York City. During her decades of theatre work, Paige performed on and off Broadway touring in Japan, Brazil, Korea, Taiwan and every major city in North America.

Paige supplemented her stage work as a personal trainer at the very first fitness empire Equinox in NYC on Amsterdam and 76th and the Manhattan Plaza Fitness Club. Paige has studied every discipline of yoga across all three coasts and holds a Peak Pilates Mat Certification.

April Parker, BodyBarre® Online Operations & Global Director

April has been dancing since the age of 3, and has taught classical & modern ballet, jazz, & dance fitness for over 25 years throughout Texas, Hawaii, California and Tennessee.

In 2014, after two decades of performing and teaching classical dance and dance inspired fitness classes at studios throughout the U.S., she she met Paige and took her first BodyBarre® class. She was instantly hooked and participated in the first BodyBarre® certification training offered.

Shortly after that training, the first BodyBarre® studio opened its doors in 2016, inside the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Houston. With only 10 classes per week on the schedule, split between Paige and April, the studio was an immediate success and within a year, BodyBarre® outgrew our small studio capacity, and moved into our first stand-alone BodyBarre® studio in Houston, TX. After 4 years there, BodyBarre® recently moved again, doubling the studio space, and adding professional wellness amenities.

After nearly 10 years of teaching, training, and developing multiple versions of the BodyBarre® instructor certification trainings, offered & recognized globally, April now serves as BodyBarre’s online operation director, as well as Director of BodyBarre® Global.
